GoPro HERO3+ is exactly what the name says. It is an upgraded HERO3, with a new lens and several new useful features. 20% smaller and lighter housing (waterproof to 131’/40m). GoPro’s claim of sharper image and fewer artifacts is an actuality, since it now has 33% of improved image sharpness and reduced distortion. It mounts easily and is secured. Wifi chip accelerates the Wifi 4x for sharing media off the camera and the controlling the camera through Gopro mobile apps. Comparatively it shows better white balance and richer resolution. The lock button is significantly upgraded and the battery life is enduring. Menu selection is fast and consistent. It enables use of mini USB and Micro HDMI ports.
And now, the cons: The focus is excellent under 4ft and noticeably softens beyond that (sacrifices distance clarity). It does not focus at infinity. The device gets overheated on usage at times. Few devices fail to respond to the power button which leaves the user with no choice but to remove and replace the battery, losing out on all the prior setting as it restores back to default settings. One of the defected cameras received, wouldn’t charge at all. Some customers find the case to be flimsy and are not content with the battery life either.
The price of the camera is worthy and its superb picture/video quality is commendable. Low light shooting is nicer and much appreciated. Being able to see what the camera sees, through the GoPro apps makes it interesting than ever before. With accurate instructions, dependable wireless connection and live-viewing facility this edition of GoPro has won confidence of many adventurers.
